Weekend Snapshots

Wow!  When I reflect back on what has happened in the past 5 days since I've posted, I realize that I've been one busy woman!

On Wednesday I had the privilege of visiting a friend who just had a baby the previous Sunday morning.  Here is Evan Pierce:

And here is big brother that just happened to be playing in the First-aid kit earlier and used a band-aid to decorate his forehead.  He is so proud of his little brother!

The girls and I went to Houston on Thursday and had a picnic with other TXVA families on Friday.  We were going to leave around noon, and like always our departure didn't go as planned.  As were were leaving our garage door came off its tracks and would not close.  I couldn't just leave town with the door up!  I called a repairman to fix the door...$200.00 and two hours later we were on the road.  (Now for honesty:  I first called my husband...what was I thinking, that he could fix the door from Lubbock? Sometimes I wonder why my mind does what it does!)

This is the statue of Sam Houston that is right on I-45 around Huntsville:

We finished the weekend off my taking the girls to see Mary Poppins.  Brent and I had the opportunity to see this performance on Broadway.  When we got back home and told the girls about it Brent promised them that if it ever came here or somewhere close he would take them.  They both loved it!  But, who wouldn't?

I really wished that I had more pictures, but my camera was confiscated after I took this one :)

This was the VERY best part of the weekend!  Well, at least the very best thing that we ate. All thanks goes to Ashley for providing us with this To Die For flour-less chocolate cake! She served it with fresh raspberries, which were an excellent touch!  I ate so much that I told her that she wasn't allowed to make it again, or at least anytime in the near future.

Saturday was bottling day for Kombucha.  This is something that I've intended to blog about for quite some time, so I'll be doing that in the very near future.  Kombucha is a fermented tea that is very refreshing and full of probiotics and vitamins.

Barbecued Wings: what we dined on Saturday night along with organic produce from the co-op this week.  Ashley's cake was a great completion to this meal.

The newest addition at the "farm" as we call it.  It is a Brahma bull calf that will eventually be another Mr. Bull .  His name is Pete, since he will be a re"Pete" of Mr. Bull.
I immediately fell in love with him, he has the be the cutest calf I've ever seen!

Mr. Bull
Blair was in the pasture and Mr. Bull walked right up to her.  I was standing on the other side of the fence and I know how gentle Mr. Bull is, but something about this beast walking toward your daughter and then lowering his head as he approached was just a little too unnerving. I wasn't sure if I should be ready for the picture of drop the camera and run to save her.  As you can see, he just wanted a little loving.  Notice that when Blair is in this position it looks like she is the same size as his head.

I saw this on my front door and was a little disturbed by it.  With the abundance of lizards that we have in Texas, I'm surprised this isn't the first time this has happened.  This poor lizard was on the door when it was open, but then someone shut the door and its tail became stuck between the door and the jam.

Are you this Patriotic?

I just had to share this with my blogging friends! We were on our way out of town this weekend when we spotted this fellow displaying his patriotic spirit. A few minutes after we took this picture he was dragging his feet on the pavement. Maybe he was in need of a pedicure? He loved the attention we were giving him and flashed the peace symbol at us more than once with a large grin on his face. He was definitely feeling free!

July 4th, 2009

Align Center
We watch fireworks at Hidden Creek Golf Course, and while we were waiting for the show to begin we snacked on watermelon. What is the 4th of July without watermelon?

And when our bellies were full, we kicked back and took a siesta.

These were some of our favorites from the evening.

Cool!

WOW!

Beautiful

I'm thankful for the freedoms that we have in this country!

Saturday started off with yard work and pressure washing.

Then a little pool time. Yes, the goose joined us.

We had some brave friends over for dinner and served liver and onions.
It was absolutely delicious to eat pastured beef liver, with organic onions, and raw milk gravy!

Ensalada Caprese for the gathering Sunday evening

Ashley made some beautiful cookies and took a great picture to prove it!
I think she may be a photographer in the making.

Linda Cotten's baby shower Sunday evening.
