I know that I cannot be alone in having days that you wonder if your children will ever turn out right. Well, mine was yesterday! The girls both woke up on the wrong side of the bed. They were fussing the moment they opened their eyes. It didn't matter what one of them would do, the other found some kind of fault in it. I was at my wits end by the time they entered the school room and their grouchy moods came in with them. That completely goes against the #1 rule: You must remain happy and not become frustrated in the school room. So, we quickly nipped that in the bud and moved on.....with pasted smiles of course, because we were in the "happy room".
The day did indeed get better as it went on (the attitudes did), but I was constantly reminding them to do their school. Why on some days they STAY distracted?? Other than getting them to refocus on what was the most important thing to do with their time, the day went fairly smooth.
Our evening was rather crazy as I started our taxes, Brent had to go the the cleaners, and the girls were finishing up what they didn't get done earlier in the day. I fixed a quick dinner, we visited around the dinner table, and then the girls were suppose to clean up the kitchen while Brent and I were visiting in his office. Brent and I were a little distracted watching a video about the fires down by Austin and not doing the duty of diligent parents; making sure that our children were doing what they were told to do. The girls came barreling into the office and handed each of us an envelope. This is what was inside...............
You can only imagine the thoughts a mother has after receiving this from her two most beautiful, well-behaved, unselfishness, kind, always considerate daughters. Ok, go ahead and laugh! They have the potential to be all the above, but they are still a work in progress and I love them just the way they are! It was an aww moment though, just when I wonder if they'll ever think of others first.............
By the way, the kitchen was still a complete mess! But, I was so impressed by their creative invitation that I hardly noticed.
Now you know what we'll be doing on Thursday the 5th @ 5:00! Please, no phone calls.
Very sweet!
